Great experience!!

This was my first time moving I had no idea what to expect or where to start. Patriots made it so easy and walked me through every step. They were super nice and caring felt very comfortable working with them. The movers were great professional and my stuff made it even earlier than they thought. Highly recommend!! Long-distance move from Westport, CT to West Chester, OH

Horrible experience.

This is actually the first review of anything (restaurants, stores, services, etc) I've ever left - my experience was that awful. To start, when the movers arrived to pick up the items in Connecticut, they immediately said the furniture was much larger than they anticipated. When we got a quote with the company, we clearly described the items that were to be moved in detail, so I'm not sure what the issue was. We would have happily provided dimensions of the furniture, but were not asked to do so (nor have I ever had to do that with any of the other 5+ moves I've been through..). The movers were extremely rude the entire time they were at the house, and then informed me I owed them an additional $700 (on top of the $1300 they quoted) due to the "bulkiness" of the furniture. At this point, all of my stuff was on the truck, so I felt like I had no choice but to pay them. They also gouged a long scratch in the hardwood floor (didn't put down any protective mats) moving furniture.

I was hoping that would be the worst of the experience, and honestly, I could have lived with that perfectly fine. However, the experience just got worse. I had explained to the company that I would not have access to the new house until March 29th. I called on the 27th to check in on what the ETA for the delivery was. They had previously said either the 29th or the 30th. When I called on the 27th, they weren't able to give a date, just said the end of the week. Then I got a call on Thursday, the 28th, saying they were planning on delivering that afternoon (BEFORE I had access to the house). I explained this to the man who called, who proceed to say "This isn't UPS, we don't just deliver whenever you want." He then explained very rudely if I insisted upon having the furniture delivered the next day, he was showing up at 6 am because he "wasn't going to be waiting around all day for me." When I finally got in contact with a supervisor, they were able to schedule the move for 9am on Friday - great! However, they told me between 8am-10am, and specified the driver was going to be arriving at 9am. So I showed up at the house at 9am, and ended up waiting until 10:45 for the driver to arrive. This wasn't a big deal, I could deal with 45 minutes late. However, when the truck did arrive, there was ONE (1) mover. My furniture set, which was so bulky they had to charge an extra $700, was to be moved by one person. The mover was not able to get the furniture into the house, so unloaded all of the furniture into the garage and left. I had to hire other movers to move the furniture into the house.

Overall, I learned this company is a scam. They will quote you at a very low price, then jack the price up once they have your belongings. They clearly never intended to actually move the furniture pieces into place inside of my house either, having only sent one mover. I would not recommend this company to anyone, and am looking into potentially filing a consumer complaint.

Hello,

We do not provide in home estimates as stated to you during the booking process. We must do a verbal estimate over the phone in order to provide you with an accurate quote according to where you are moving to and what you will be transporting. After the initial inventory is collected you are then provided with a quality assurance call 3 to 5 days before your pick up is to take place to ensure we are as accurate as possible by reviewing your inventory and breakdowns again. Also at the time of pick up the foreman will complete another walk through comparing the estimate to what is actually on site. If there is a revision needed the foreman reviews this with you and you must agree to the revision prior to any goods being loaded.

Optional Accessorial Services and Additional fees (if applicable to the move): It is customary for the carrier to offer additional service options to the customer. Optional services include, but are not limited to, storage, packing, materials, unpacking, appliance servicing, shuttle, long carry, rigging hoisting and lowering, wooden crating, exclusive use of vehicle, guaranteed delivery, etc. If customer orders an additional service or an additional service is required to complete the move then the charge for the service will be added to the final bill. Optional Accessorial post contract services not included in your estimate include:

First flight of stairs is included (10 steps), each additional flight is $75.00.
Long carry: first 100 feet are included, each additional 100 feet will be charged $75.00 per 100 feet.
Shuttle service: if semi-trailer cannot get reasonably close to building or house for loading/unloading (75 feet), a shuttle truck may be required to perform relocation at a minimum charge of $300.
Packing of fragile/delicate items (such as TVs, glass, etc.); packing and crating services not already listed within proposal; loading of bulky items (such as a motorcycle).
Packing supplies such as boxes, bubble wrap, etc.
Storage: any additional month will be charged at $0.40-$0.50 per cubic foot ($140 minimum).
For full packing service: All labor and materials to professionally pack all boxes, fragile items, and furniture listed. If additional items are added at time of pick up, then the total price for full service packing will be increased and adjusted by the guaranteed rate provided. A new agreement will be presented at time of pick up.

Great company!

I used Patriot Moving Group earlier this week. I'm very big on getting what I pay for and all I can say is this company was worth every cent. None of my furniture was damaged and they worked with me on my pickup dates and times as my job doesn’t leave me with a flexible schedule. Everything was extremely exceptional from the people on the phones to the people that showed up. I highly recommend Patriot Moving Group to anyone who is looking for an all inclusive move.

Move from MA to NH.

The guys that showed up were very professional. They only had to move furniture but it was all very heavy oak and it was pouring out the whole time. They wrapped all my pieces in blankets so not to damage anything. They worked together like a well oiled machine. Very friendly with a great work ethic, they were thorough and respectful with our wishes. I would definitely refer anyone I know moving to call Patriot first.

Broker - Please do Your Research And do Not Hire.

Broker subcontracted me thru American Home Relocation, for which I had zero control over, and the process has been an absolute nightmare. I have had a $2000 TV lost or stolen (said it has been found but no attempts to redeliver a month after initial delivery even though contract has been paid in full), $492 overcharge upon delivery without any proof of documentation or explanation, and a broken end table. All signs and research of American Home Relocation show they are an untrustworthy and fraudulent company, yet Patriot Moving Group linked me with them without any warning or consideration to my belongings, money, and most importantly, mental health. I have made repeated contacts with both companies yet customer service will provide no answers or explanations to solve their negligence. Extremely disappointed in the entire process and feel my rights as a consumer have been violated.

Hello,

At the time of pick up the foreman will complete a walk through comparing the estimate to what is actually on site. In your case a revision had to be made because you had additional cubic feet. You had an additional 124 cubic feet at the price you were quoted per cf did come out to a charge of an additional $451.00 and you also need packing. The packing charge we discounted for you in order to satisfy you. We also explained that you were not obligated to pay additional that you could revert back to your original cubic footage but you would need to remove an additional items that were causing your load to go over the reserved amount of space or if you wanted to bring everything you had on site including additional items then logically you would have to pay for the additional space you were wanting to use. Any and all revisions are explained and must be signed off on prior to any goods being loaded. The t.v was located and that was also communicated with you. Since the t.v was recovered at the warehouse where you were loaded onto the delivery trailer it was left behind there. In order to get this back to you we have to include it in the next trailer headed to your specific area. Sometimes this can take a little while depending on where those trailers are located, if they are filled to capacity or if they are still in transit coming back from previous deliveries. You were also given all claim information.

Long-distance move from Edenton, NC to Melbourne, FL

Worst moving experience ever!

I had no idea this company was merely a broker! They passed off the move to American Home Relocation and what a miserable experience it was -- from both the broker and the subcontractor. The movers called at 5:30pm to say they would be there at 6:30pm for the pickup after I was initially told we would receive 24 hrs notice. I declined the time slot because we lived on a 4 lane highway and the police department had to be notified in advance that we had to park a truck on the right lane. (It was after police department regular hours) After they agreed to come the following morning, they showed up anyway!! I specifically told Patriot Movers that there was a box of dishes and kitchen supplies that would need to be repacked for the move. It arrived in FL in the same box, no packing between the dishes and just taped up with, of course, broken dishes. This move also required a pickup from a storage unit. The movers charged an additional fee to use the elevator! The movers FINALLY arrived in FL at 9:30pm!! The rented truck pulled up with, I kid you not, furniture shrink wrapped and hanging to the back of the truck! They came in with the boxes and literally dumped them on the living room floor. They were already so damaged that we wanted to check all the boxes before letting the movers leave. They were NOT happy about that! Fortunately, we had photos of the contents of the storage unit. A brand new set of pots and pans somehow didn't make it to the inventory list and disappeared. We also had trash cans and bathroom supplies that did NOT belong to us! Inventory control was severely inadequate. I was told that the reason the move quote increased was because the cubic feet needed forced them to find another truck. (yeah right) When I went outside to the truck asking to see if the box of pots and pans was still on the truck I was appalled to see just how LITTLE space our contents had taken on the truck!! And, finally -- the TV didn't work after we had to purchase a new power cord because it was missing from the boxes. Since it took Amazon 2 days to arrive by the time we contacted the movers it was, surprise, outside the window it needed to be reported. This was a cluster of a move and I DO NOT recommend this company.

Hello,

The fact that Patriot Moving Group is a broker is clearly stated in your agreement that is presented to you prior to any deposit or payment being made. Our agreement is very clear with no fine print and only three pages long enabling each customer to be able to read through it and agree by electronically signing accepting all terms, After booking you are also sent a verification script that goes over all information in regards to packing and other details in regards to pick up and delivery. You are notified the day before the 1st day of your pick up window with the date and time frame the movers will arrive for pick up by both Patriot Moving and the dispatcher. Not at one point was it mentioned that the police department need approval for the parking of the truck until it was mentioned when giving pick up eta. This should have been discussed at the time of booking in order for dispatch to take that into consideration when completing the schedules. Our trucks pick up multiple customers in a day and if a time slot is declined by a customer a lot of rescheduling needs to be done and effects other clients as well. In regards to the delivery time. Our trucks are on routes and when they arrive you are notified, if the time is to late then this must be told to the driver when he calls you to confirm the time frame. You agreed to the time the driver would arrive. Also the charge was not for an elevator it was for a long carry. If the foreman needs to carry the goods from the truck to the elevator and then to your homes entrance and it is over 75ft then charges are applied. This is also outlined in all documents.

Optional Accessorial Services and Additional fees (if applicable to the move):It is customary for the carrier to offer additional service options to the customer.

Do not use Patriot they are scammers! *Class Action*.

It seems they have a Mode Operandum, they continuously and intentionally raise the price upon arrival. The mover they sent tried to upvharge me before even seeing my stuff. Craig told me I was to pay $507 so I refused to pay extra, and the mover left and Danielle scheduled a new one, but kept changing the time when they knew my family needed to be back in NC by a certain time. And they are saying I cancelled and holding my deposit of $613! I was up in NJ to have them move my stuff and they expected us to just hang around until they sent someone. Now I still need to find an adequate mover to move my stuff I am suing them for my deposit, as well as for the time my husband missed from work, the extra month of storage I have to now pay,and the extra night hotel bill we incurred because their first mover tried to scam us. Anyone looking to join in a class action suit against Patriot Moving Company Llc please contact me at Familybiz365@gmail.com.

Official company response

Patriot Moving Group would first like to extend our sincerest apology for any inconvenience experienced by you and your family.

Upon review of our records, it appears that our team provided you with an over the phone estimate for your move. Phone estimates are based on the items a client specifies during their inventory, so they are subject to change in the event that any items are forgotten or not disclosed during the quoting process. Your reservation guaranteed you a total of 352 cubic feet on our fleet truck to transport your items. Upon the arrival of our foreman, however, your storage unit was filled to its capacity. Due to the incomplete inventory we were provided, the footage you reserved was not enough to fulfill your move.

Per Patriot Moving Group's contractual agreement, any additional cubic footage the undisclosed items require must be paid for at pick-up in order for the reservation to be upheld. When our foreman arrived and discovered that the client's items far surpassed the reserved footage, he attempted to break down the additional charges that her extra items required in order to be moved. Upon explanation of the additional charges, the client became upset and denied any further services that day. In an attempt to reconcile the issue, Patriot Moving Group contacted the client and dispatched a second crew to retrieve her items the following day. Our Customer Service Supervisor explained that this crew would arrive later in the afternoon, and provided the client with an approximated window of arrival. The client expressed at this point that she wanted to cancel her services with Patriot Moving Group, despite the fact that she was no longer eligible for a refund per our contract. By this point, we had paid for and dispatched two separate crews to the client's pick-up location, which is why our contract specifies such a rigid post-move-date refund policy.

The Patriot Moving Group team is disappointed to hear that a client was anything less than satisfied with our services. We strive to provide both transparency and world-class service to each individual and family that we move. We will continue working diligently to provide a solution to this client that is mutually acceptable to both her family and ours. In light of this situation, we urge all potential clients to be diligent and thorough while providing an inventory to any moving company, as forgotten items will cause rate changes.

Use anyone else - They don't use good movers.

I used this company when I moved and they did a horrible job contracting a mover. Their website says they only used trusted movers, but the company they contracted to move my goods had numerous complaints with the FMCSA. The complaints ranged from hostage of goods to overcharging outside of contract.

My contract stated 75 dollars per 10 stairs. When the movers arrived they told me they would not deliver the goods unless I paid 75 dollars per 7 steps. When I contacted the brokers about this they rolled over and let the movers overcharge me.

I would never recommend using them. Instead book an actual moving company who you can verify has a good history and reputation.

Hello,

We have carrier/broker agreements with all of our carriers who then adopt our policies and agreements. Most carrier's have their own policies as well that they use on other individual jobs which pertain to their personal clients alone and not to any of our customers. Looking into your file the issue of stairs was brought up and revised by the dispatcher after we reached out to them and had them correct the error the foreman did in your stair fees.

Pleased with services.

My overall experience with Patriot Moving Group was easy and satisfying. I didn't know where to begin when looking for moving companies so I just googled "Top movers" and found this company. When calling the company a very friendly rep named Daniel answered and helped me through my whole move from start to finish. Took me room by room like he was there with me and ensured that everything in my house was listed properly and accurately. He ensured I was given a great and accurate price. The actual movers themselves were very professional to me and my husband and with the handling of our furniture and belongings. This being my first long distance move, my husband and I were very stressed and worried. But Daniel was very knowledgeable to the questions and concerns I had. Also he was very receptive to answering my phone calls even after booking. After hearing all the horror stories about moving companies my two main concerns were: prices going up and my belongings arriving damaged or late. I can honestly say I'm so pleased with my experience, all of my furniture and belongings arrived on time and in the same condition and the price I was originally given was the price I paid. I would highly recommend this company and use them again.

Long-distance move from Lexington, KY to Bradenton, FL

Misleading, unprofessional, and shady.

If you take a look and read through all the five star reviews here, they all are grouped on the same days and use the same wording. I made the mistake when I signed on with Patriot Moving, don't make the same mistake!!

To start with, I was given a quote and told that my quote was based on WEIGHT and that given what I told him, he estimated me at 1,400 lbs and the minimum was 2,000 so there was no way I would add another 600 pounds from my one bedroom apartment. The only furniture I was bringing along was my bed, mattress (no box spring), two arm chairs, an ottoman, and a washer dryer. The rest of my belongings were clothes, a lamp, bedding, kitchen goods, etc. Enough that they called me a "mini move". Then when the person called to get my updated inventory, they raised my estimate by $400 now claiming that it was not by weight, but by ITEM COUNT. See, because they originally told me it was by weight, I had packed some things in boxes as small as 6"x8". Then I was given a four hour window for pick up, when I was originally told it would be two hours. The window was Tuesday from 3-7pm. I had heard nothing from the driver until 6:45 when he told me he would be late because his "helper" hadn't arrived and the pick up process would be 3-4 hours long. Again, keep in mind I was a "mini move". I heard from him three more times that evening, all me calling him, before he eventually cancelled on me and said he would arrive before 8am the following morning. After two calls to him the next morning, he finally arrived at 8:30am. The "helper" he brought with him was unprofessional, smelled of body odor, would only carry one box at a time because he didn't "like the dolly", took an hour to take apart my simple bed, kept interrupting conversations with my father and I instead of working, and even asked my father to help him carry my mattress. But they finally had everything loaded up. When Patriot Moving called me to ask how it went, I shared my concerns. After several calls complaining about our experience with the pick up people and the price change, Danielle, the customer service manager, told my mother she had talked to me and I never shared any of these concerns and she did not have time to talk to us and would only communicate over email. I talked with her employee Kayla, not her, and had indeed shared all my concerns. When it was time to deliver, I talked to several different employees that told me different things each time: it would take 7-10 days to deliver, it would be delivered on my requested date, it would be delivered 7-10 days from my requested date, it would be delivered up to a month from my requested date, etc. I called probably two dozen times following up with them, they did not reach out to me once. I finally heard the day before my things were arriving that they would come the following day. When they were delivered, the driver told me it is his decision whether to estimate my items on weight or box count and he would have done by weight because of the light weight of my move. We also noticed the pick up driver did not inventory or sticker all of my items. I lost several boxes and a painting. But I frankly don't want to deal with them any further to get them back.

In summary, they lie, they raise rates, they are unprofessional, they are brokers for unreliable movers. DO NOT USE THEM. You will lose money and your belongings.

Hello,

When booking your move you are estimated for both weight and cubic footage. It is based off of a 7 ratio. Every 7 pounds equals one cubic foot. This is on all supporting documents sent to you and right next to each other. Patriot Moving Group's minimum job is up to 2000 lbs at 286 cf. Three to five days before your pick up is to take place you receive a quality assurance call which is meant to make sure all inventory is communicated to us as accurately as possible and if any revisions need to be made to inventory or packing etc. In your case you originally had 10 items 24 pieces then added additional items going up to 22 items 64 pieces this in turn changed your cubic footage to 342 rather than the original 286 and your weight to 2396 rather than the minimum of 2000. When you make adjustments to your inventory it changes the algorithm and obviously the percentages in pricing will change. If you reserve more space/weight then you need to pay for that add on. You are given a window for pick up between 2 and 4 hours. We do not give an exact time because you need to think of what kind of industry this is. When dealing with multiple stops and traffic/weather/mechanical issues time frames adjust all the time. You were informed and communicated with in regards to the delay that was unforeseen and unavoidable. At pick up you are given documents to review which include a bill of lading , inventory sheet with label numbers and packing material sheet. After the foreman does the walk through and explains the breakdowns you must sign the paperwork before they can even start loading agreeing to weight or cubic feet and all prices.

In regards to the labors having " body oder " this does tend to happen when you are working. Delivery time frames are all based off of your first available date for delivery that you specify on your pick up paperwork. The dispatcher base their logistics off this date per customer at which point you are given a time frame for delivery. Just like pick up etas we can not guarantee a specific time and day because of the same reason listed above.

Long-distance move from Terre Haute, IN to Dallas, TX

Misrepresentation of estimate.

Agree with Maggie Sulllivan. It was a mistake to sign on with Patriot Moving. My estimate was below the minimum of 2000 lbs. I was told I could add to the shipment without an upcharge so long as I stayed below that weight. I did add items, staying below the weight but was told it would be an upcharge of $200. The explanation given to me was that the the initially assigned moving truck could no longer accommodate my load because the volume had increased, and another truck which would be in my area had a higher rate. I was asked if there would be any other surprises and was told no. I even asked both the salesman and quality reviewer about the fact that I had a flight of stairs for the movers to go up. Upon pick up, I was told I owed more money because of the flight of stairs. In a later conversation with Patriot, one customer service representative told me a flight consists of 7 steps, and another rep said 10. I have 14 to go to the 2nd storey. Interesting how their "industry standard" differs from a builder's standard.

The driver from Unique Van Lines did not call my mother-in-law 24 hours in advance, but the morning of delivery. His company called me after the driver's call about the delivery saying to expect his call 24 hours in advance. This created confusion about the timing of the delivery. The driver was angry that my 85 year old mother-in-law was not standing outside her apartment building waiting for him, but was in her apartment.

The driver said he could not reach the loading dock because his truck was too big. Another $300 upcharge. Other moving vans have been able to make it. I did not anticipate that the driver would be unsuccessful in pulling the truck in. His delivery was after 5pm so there was no one at Patriot to discuss this with. We had to pay or not get the delivery.

Customer service at Patriot is very polite. I was told the paperwork of the delivery would be looked at an I would get a call back. According to their records, a callback was made. Neither my mother-in-law or I received it, and no voicemail was left. I called customer service a week later. This customer service rep was also very polite. I was told all the upcharges were appropriate. If true, my conclusion is that both the salesman and quality reviewer were being misleading and dishonest in their phone conversations.

Long-distance move from Westborough, MA to Holiday, FL

Worst movers ever!

Do Not use this company. They will quote you a reasonable price and it will go up. They do not move your inventory as they hire other companies to do it and then they will charge you more money as well.

On behalf of patriot Moving group we apologize that you feel as if you had a bad experience moving with us. Please keep in mind we provided you with an over the phone estimate based on the inventory items that you provided us. Upon the arrival of our foreman we quickly realized you had a few more items then were listed on your inventory. Your estimated was for 109 items with a space reservation of 857 cubic feet. The total amount of items loaded on to the truck was 116 items occupying 1,110 cubic feet. Our system calculates the average space and weight that each item would utilize in the truck. As I’m sure you can understand sometimes a customer has an item or two that our bigger than average size. With the combination of having more items then listed on the estimate and some of your items being a little larger than average. Your move took up an additional 253 cubic feet in the truck. We simply just charged you for the extra space you occupied in the truck at the same rate per cubic foot you were already locked in at. In the signed agreement between yourself and Patriot Moving, polices on additional cubic feet and weight are clearly stated. This agreement its clearly stated that the price may fluctuate if your load goes over the space or weight estimated.

Thank you,
Management
Patriot Moving Group.

Moving.

Used these guys for my move from FL to Jersey and everything went very smooth. All my items were shrink wrapped, and arrived in place. They even reassembled all my furniture. I would recommend them to anybody looking to move. Ask for Michael, he was extremely helpful with getting everything set up.

Long-distance move from Lyndhurst, NJ to Columbus, OH

Service.

Used this company to move my family from NJ to Ohio after a recent job transfer. I priced out several different companies and none of them were up front about the cost. Patriot on the other hand was very thorough from the beginning and made sure there were no surprises. I highly recommend them to anyone in need.

Part 2: Patriot unable to.

I need to add that the mover who finally showed up did do a great job of packing/protecting my furniture. So good, I "bought" them a nice dinner. I'm just hoping now that my furniture arrives as I'm afraid it has been offloaded and reloaded several times by now.If that same mover has my furniture, I'm pretty sure it will get here OK.
